Yule is a 12 day celebration of honoring, rejoicing, and manifesting. It starts on the Winter Solstice and ends the first day of the New Year. Though the season started out well, on the fifth day of Yule, on Christmas day we tested positive for Covid. The celebrating turned from all out to doing the best we could. Writing this even now, I am still not back to 100%. But even when sick and down, thereโs always little ways to celebrate.
On the day of the Winter Solstice, we had friends and family gathered for a feast and crafts. My wonderful fiancรฉ made amazing homemade hot chocolate and we crafted Witch Balls to hang on our tree. I made wish balls- My wish for 2025 for myself and a second ball for friend who had a not so great year. We also pulled a tarot card for the โจVibe of 2025โจ.
I pulled the Knight of Pentacles: hard work, productivity, routine. I just have to keep at it and I will see the success of my goals and dreams. I have to put in the hard work and set a routine and Iโll be right as rain. Which will correlate later on the last day of Yule, when we get there.
On Christmas, before we found out about having Covid, I spent the morning relaxing anyway. I infused my coffee with good vibes and intentions and ate a Christmas filled cereal, journaled, and made more witch balls. This time my wish for 2025 for my fiancรฉ- he also made me a witch ball which is stunning. However, these balls are still not quite complete as we wanted to melt wax over the balls but have ran out, unfortunately and have been too sickly to get more. Anyway, I also spent a quiet moment crafting a ball for my matron deity.
Witch Tip: I have low energy on a regular basis, mix in not feeling well, and itโs even worse. However, I found crafting witch balls doesnโt take much energy and you can spend as much time as you feel you need! You can easily connect with your deity and gift them an offering theyโll super appreciate.
New Yearโs Eve was one of the worst of the โvid. But I managed to lowkey celebrate in my own witchy way. I made an incredible cup of coffee- the foam was foaming, ate cookies, did a tarot spread for the Year Ahead, and watched a Manifesting Movie.
Letโs talk Manifesting Movies just for a moment. The movie in question was How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. No, Iโm not manifesting losing anyone. The part I did manifest for, and one of the reasons I like the movie so much, journalism. Writing. Being in a magazine. Magazines are becoming an art of the past but I want to pursue more writing this year, and finally get this site off the ground! Get it off the proverbial manifestation board, and into reality! My card of the year, my Year Ahead, and my movie are all related and my flabbers were ghasted!

Iโm not sure what type of business Iโll have fully. Iโm still working out details fully. But I know my wishes for this site, and this brand- theidlewitch.
On the final day of Yule, January First 2025, we watched Red One. I heard the box office wasnโt great and heard mixed reviews on the movie. And Iโm not sure the general consensus But we had a great time with the movie! It was funny and light hearted. It had Krampus which was a nice surprise. And Gryla- The Christmas Witch! I squealed when I saw Keirnan Shipka (our new, Chilling Sabrina) portray Gryla! The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina had a Yule episode in which a version of Gryla appeared. It felt like a full circle moment for me as a witch and a pop culture witch. Red One for me is a perfect Yule movie and one I will rewatch every year.
Despite having Covid for Yule the second year in a row, I tried to make the best of it when I could and felt the energy to do so. There were some days I couldnโt focus or do anything and thatโs okay. Your practice is what you make it. There are no set rules.
